Linear Anodes for Impressed Current CP
BADGERCABLE is a flexible linear anode system designed for both AC mitigation and impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) applications, ensuring the integrity of pipelines, aboveground storage tanks (ASTs), and closely spaced plant and refinery piping. The BADGERCABLE AC Mitigation line is engineered to safely dissipate AC-induced currents, reducing HVAC interference and minimizing the risk of AC-induced corrosion in high-voltage corridors and right-of-way crossings. The BADGERCABLE CP line strategically implements impressed current cathodic protection, delivering uniform current distribution for consistent corrosion prevention in high-resistivity soils and challenging underground environments. Whether for AC interference mitigation or long-term corrosion control, BADGERCABLE provides a cost-effective, high-performance solution for protecting critical infrastructure.
Applications
BADGERCABLE linear anodes are engineered for performance across a wide range of field conditions in both cathodic protection (CP) and AC mitigation systems. In CP applications, BADGERCABLE delivers consistent current output along its entire length, making it ideal for protecting long assets such as pipelines, storage tanks, and buried metallic structures - especially in areas with difficult access, high resistivity soils, or right-of-way constraints. Its distributed design simplifies installation in continuous trenches, horizontal directional drilling (HDD) bores, or narrow utility corridors.
In AC mitigation systems, BADGERCABLE reduces the risk of induced AC corrosion on pipelines co-located with high-voltage power lines. The anode design ensures uniform grounding and dissipation of AC currents, protecting both infrastructure and personnel. BADGERCABLE is particularly suited for use in power transmission corridors, remote areas with limited maintenance access, and regulated environments requiring minimal surface disruption.
BADGERCABLE can also be configured in customized concentric ring or linear geometries for cathodic protection of above-ground storage tanks (ASTs). These configurations ensure uniform current distribution beneath tank bottoms - critical for preventing corrosion in hard-to-access areas such as chime zones and under-tank pads. Whether deployed in new tank builds or retrofitted into existing sites, BADGERCABLE systems are engineered to fit exact site layouts, optimize performance, and simplify future maintenance. Our team works closely with engineers and contractors to design turn-key linear anode systems tailored for API 650 and similar tank standards.
Whether the goal is to control AC voltage or extend the life of steel infrastructure through distributed cathodic protection, BADGERCABLE offers a durable, long-term solution with proven reliability.
Manufacturing Process
Each BADGERCABLE anode is manufactured using a precise, multi-layered construction process to ensure long-term reliability in demanding subsurface and mitigation environments. At its core, the system begins with either a polymer-coated cable anode or an MMO-coated titanium wire, selected based on the intended cathodic protection or AC mitigation application.
This current-carrying element is then encased in densely packed, ultra-low resistivity carbonaceous backfill (coke breeze) to ensure optimal conductivity and consistent current output over the anode’s full length. The entire assembly is wrapped in a durable, acid- and UV-resistant fabric sock, which maintains the anode's shape and integrity during handling and burial.
To withstand installation stress and prevent damage from shifting soils or abrasion, BADGERCABLE is further enclosed in a non-conductive, abrasion-resistant braided outer layer, completing a rugged, field-proven construction ideal for horizontal directional drilling (HDD), plow-in, or trench installations.
