High-Potential vs. Standard-Potential Magnesium
Anode Materials
Two grades of magnesium anode. High-potential magnesium delivers roughly -1.75 V versus a copper/copper sulfate reference; standard-potential (H-1 or AZ63) delivers roughly -1.55 V. In the field, a drop of dilute phosphoric acid turns high-potential magnesium bright and standard-potential magnesium black.
